The global sea level has risen by about 10 to 25 cm. (up to about 10 inches) over the last 100 years. Sea level rise is attributable to global warming. Humanity's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are leading to changes in climatic patterns. The most harmful GHG emitted by human activity -- carbon dioxide -- accounts for 85% of the increase in the Earth's temperature in the past ten years. When you save energy you reduce the use of fossil fuels --coal -- oil and gas-- the greatest source of human carbon dioxide output.

IMTS registration is open.  A search of metalworking fluids on the conference page yields a 1 hour presentation by David DiNuzio and Brian Halstead of Castrol Industrial North America, Inc.  The presentation is September 8th, from 10-11, Rm W-192B.  From that page: The term “value” is widely used in the B2B world, but what truly defines value? More importantly for the manufacturer, how can you get more of it?

STLE members received their copy of TLT in their inbox and mailbox.  We like this publication but only get really excited when there's a lot of metalworking fluid articles in it.  We didn't find that this month, but you can meet Maureen Hunter, the new president of STLE, and read a number of lubricant based articles.  There is a very interesting article on automotive brake systems that is familiar territory for mechanical engineers like me.  Alas, ten years later, I am now officially annoyed by the page turning noise the maga

PAG base stocks are used in finished lubricants like gear oils or compressor oils as well as in metalworking applications.

We Have Moved

We moved our Post Office Box anyway. Why? Because we like getting our mail. We don't really mind slow mail. But we want to get it eventually and the USPS has been incompetently returning our mail on random occasions. This was confounded by the fact that they give us notice that we have mail, and then they inexplicably return it. We hand them their own notice and they deny they ever got it, even when the sender has called to tell us it was returned. They have a policy for handling these issues. THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG.
